YES - Of course, we all know that smoking tobacco is bad for us - Right? And most people today seem to believe that eating a
lot of meat (saturated fat & cholesterol) is also detrimental to their health.
Practically everyone today has long since given up that nasty smoking habit. After all, our government way back in the 1960's told the people that smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease and today just about any illness or disease one could think of. About a decade after our surgeon general's report on tobacco came out, another government announcement was made to the American people by way of the (select committee on nutrition and human needs) on the dangers of saturated fat & cholesterol, what mankind has been eating since the beginning of time. Somehow, through the past thousands of years, humans managed to continue to increase in life expectancy to date. As early as the late 1800's, the North American Indians were consuming a lot of wild game, and somehow at the time, managed to be the tallest people on the planet. They also enjoyed a long life span for this point in history. I find it interesting how a culture could grow tall and live long if saturated fat "meat" was bad for their health. They were also very big early users of real tobacco.
I've always found it interesting, how so many people today are selective in what they choose to believe. BBQ sales are at an all time high in America. It's doubtful many people are BBQing carets and zucchinis. But tobacco? Never touch that stuff. It will kill you, shorten your life and perhaps the lives of everyone around you? Facts are, most of the worlds oldest people were tobacco users. Also, it's interesting that in the early 20th century, the same people who pushed hard against the use of alcohol, first tried to eliminate tobacco but failed. However, they succeeded in eliminating alcohol use. This lasted from 1919 to 1932 at extreme cost to millions of Americans in countless ways. The same reasons for trying to eliminate tobacco at the time were the same reasons used successfully to eliminate alcohol. Most people today that run from the perceived dangers of tobacco selectively seem not to have a problem with continuing the use of alcohol. They can only hope that another push to stop people from drinking alcohol will not again occur with of course using the modern method used as was used with tobacco to get people to stop smoking by taxing it so few people could afford it. Can one imagine paying $10.00 for a bottle of beer?
When Americans choose to believe something, even facts and empirical evidence will seldom change their minds. They simply become totally
blinded through decades of persuasive non-stop propaganda promoted by those on the money side of the issue of what constitutes a healthy
life style. Use our smoking cessation drug and join the smart non-smokers of the world. If your cheating, and BBQing a hunk
of meat, you can make up for this deadly choice the next time you're at the grocery store, and fill your shopping cart with
low cholesterol, low fat, and of course low salt chemical latent processed nutrition less garbage all government approved for consumption.
Just don't read the actual ingredients list, only the government approved nutritional facts?
