Aspirin - The most common OTC (over the counter) drug.
Countless other drugs similar to aspirin are also popular.
Look at these yummy
coatings used on Aspirin so you don't hurt your tummy?
Bayers coatings contain carnauba wax, corn starch, croscarmellose sodium, dextrose,FD&C Blue #1, FD&C Blue #2, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, methacrylic acid copolymer, microcrystalline cellulose, polysorbate
80, powdered cellulose, propylene glycol, shellac, sodium lauryl sulphate, titanium dioxide, and triacetin. None of these ingredients
is considered dangerous?
How do they know this? Oops I forgot they're FDA approved. Never mind
I'm only familiar with four of these ingredients and that's enough. Well actually, Blue #2 is a petroleum product as used in motors, gas tanks, asphalt, road Tar etc.
Carnauba wax - I just waxed my car with it. I've never thought about eating it. I never had a craving.
Corn starch - couldn't be too bad.
A personal favorite, Propylene Glycol It was used as anti-freeze
in vehicles and I used it in cold plate systems in commercial refrigeration.
My biggest favorite of all, Shellac
Use it in my shop all the time. I noticed a long list of warnings on the can. It's very flammable and contains Ethanol. If swallowed,
do not induce vomiting. Contact a physician or poison control immediately. Wonderful
We all should know by now there's a connection
between Ethanol and cancers and a few other medical problems. However - not to worry. Our trusted FDA will likely have Bayer make
changes to the aspirin coating formula in a decade or two. It probably takes a certain number of illnesses and deaths before any changes
are made. I don't know what that number is.
Meanwhile, it's pounded into our heads that by taking an aspirin a day will help keep us from having a heart attack or stroke. Oky

I did a little test for fun.
I dissolved one 81mg (baby aspirin) in a small cup of water. I stuck a PH meter in it and not to
my surprise the PH reading was around 3.0, very acidic. About the same acidic content of the phosphoric acid in Diet Coke
of about 2.6. This PH is actually a little more acidic than our normal stomach digestive acid.
